3D Design Gallery and New Animated Gallery update:
Finally, I've assembled the entire Cuna village together for the MOHO comic in SketchUp Pro 6. I technically built all the models in SketchUp Pro 5, but they, Google, just released Pro 6 as a FREE upgrade. I didn't think I'd be able to recreate all the models that I had originally built in Carrara Studio 3. I really had very little understanding of 3D when I started with Carrara and could only make certain things. I got most of what I wanted but really didn't figure out how to add drawings or textures to what I needed. SketchUp has been a lot easier for me to learn, though I'll say Carrara is much easier to learn than any high end program like Maya. There are still plenty of thing for me to figure out in SketchUp and I might get the next version of Pro version of Carrara or use Blender to animate the buildings I made in SketchUp. I think they might be better suited for it and SketchUp is having a hard time sometimes dealing with the entire village. It might also be my computer.

I posted about 40 images of Cuna. There are some structures that I hadn't posted before like the Holy Well that sits in the middle of the village, the sewing circle and poles that are used for the looms in sewing and the Wall that surrounds the village with its Zanox symbol emblazoned on the doors.

3D Design Gallery update:
Revamped the exterior of the Laundry and Kiln building for the Cuna village. That finishes all the buildings in the village. I've already recreated the wall surrounding Cuna, but have a couple of small things left to design. The holy well at the center of the village and the Sewing circle stand. I've been sick already twice this year, so lets hope that is all for the year. I still have a sore throat right now.

3D Design Gallery update:
The Carrara model for the Public Bathroom and Public Bathhouses were designed the same on the outside, but would have completely different interiors. In SketchUp, I have recreated the P. Bathhouse from the inside out. You can now compare the Public Bathhouse, which is the most recent addition to the 3D gallery, with the Public Bathroom, which was the previous addition to the 3D gallery.

3D Design Gallery update:
When I made the Carrara model of the Public Bathroom, I was only able to create the outside structure of the bathroom. In SketchUp, I have created the entire model from the inside out. The only thing I left out were the curtains that are used on the individual stalls to give its occupant privacy.

3D Design Gallery update:
The Chief's house has been redesigned with all the facades and reliefs it was supposed to originally have. I had great difficulty figuring out how to put the designs into Carrara and model them so that I would get the desired result. However this was not a difficult task to achieve in SketchUp, althoug it was quite time consuming. I'm quite pleased with the results. I still have to put the Chief's seat and inner chambers where he eats and sleeps but I didn't have the designed in Carrara and at the moment it is not necessary to have. It is completed to the point at which I can view it properly within the rest of the Cuna village.

Next week, I'll have a bunch of pics displaying the Cuna bathroom.

3D Design Gallery update:
Sorry, for the very long delay in updating the website. I've got a lot of things going on. First, I started writing a 2nd series, that a friend of mine should be drawing. Also, writing the next 4 issues of MOHO, so that I can have a better updating schedule and produce more pages for the comic in a more timely manner.

Secondly I've been concentrating on redesigning the village of Cuna in the MOHO comic with SketchUp 5 Pro. I originally designed it in Carrara. SketchUp is easier for me to create building and add art to it. So far I've been able to stay pretty close to the original designs I did in Carrara, but I have added details that I found very difficult to add in Carrara but quite easy to add in SketchUp. Although the details are not to difficult to add in SketchUp they are time consuming. This week I've added pics of the standard Cuna house and the main characters house with their rug and front facade on the house. When I did the pages for the 2nd issue I had to always add the rug and facade in Photoshop and now I won't have to ^_^ YEAH.

Next week I'll be adding the Chief's house and hopefully revamping the 3D section a little more. I want people to be able to compare the original Carrara version to the SketchUp version. I'm also looking into Blender which is totally free and seems to be quite powerful. I'll probably only use it for rendering. I plan on using SketchUp for all the architectural designs and Zbrush for character and organic designs. I can't wait for the new 2.5 Zbrush update, it looks AWESOME. It seems like certain things will be easier to do and it will have tons more 3D abilities. Mudbox should also be coming out at the end of year or beginning of this year and is BIG competition for Zbrush. Mudbox was used to make all the Weta movies I believe (Lord of the Rings, King Kong and more). I'm sure I'll be sticking with Zbrush since the next update is free and seems to have all the stuff that Mudbox was reporting to have last I checked. I should be updating more regularly now.

San Diego Comic-Con. International 2006
Sorry for taking so long in updating the website. I've been trying to get the MOHO comic printed in color and had a couple bumps, mostly because I didn't know what I was getting into. I previously printed the comic in Black and white with very very small runs, about 100 to 200. A friend of mine printed them for me and so it was a very easy process and not that expensive. Going color can be extremely expensive I found. I wanted to have book 1 and 2 printed in time for San Diego and almost thought it wasn't going to happen. In the end, I was helped out greatly by a friend of a friend. I got the books just in time for San Diego. They looked GREAT! I'll have more details on the DMON website later. I posted the photos I took at the Convention in the EVENTS section. If I get a chance I'll be adding captions to them.

MOHO Comic Updated:
I posted dialogue for pages 21 - 30 of the 2nd issue. I also increased the size of the lettering IN ISSUE 1 OF MOHO for easier reading. Next week will bring the dialogue for pages 31 - 40 in issue 2 of MOHO.

MOHO Comic Updated:
I posted dialogue for pages 11 - 20 of the 2nd issue. I also increased the size of the lettering for easier reading. I'll resize the 1st issues' dialogue next week to the new size I have the 2nd issue at. Next week will bring the dialogue for pages 21 - 30 in issue 2 of MOHO.

On May 16 I was finally able to get the 1st 2 issues of MOHO to the printer. I had about 3 hours sleep in 2 days, but I got it to them. If it prints close to the hard copy of the comic that I gave the printer, then I'll be ecstatic! He guaranteed that I would get the copies in time for San Diego Comic Con., which means I'm definitely going to San Diego!!!! ^_^ I have a table in the Small Press area under Yume Comics. I'll be sharing the table with a friend Dave Quilez. I can't wait to go and also meet up with peeps I met there last year.

MOHO Comic Updated:
Sorry, for the delayed update, but I've been trying to get the 1st 2 issues printed and I've been hitting my head against the wall. I have everything just about ready but I need a little more info from the printer which I hope to get soon. I want to be able to have them printed for San Diego and I know if it takes much longer it may not happen.

I reposted the entire 1st issue with a couple changes in the dialogue. I also posted the 1st 10 pages of dialogue for the 2nd issue. Next week, I'll post 10 more pages of dialogue for the 2nd issue.

I'm going to try to have new emails up soon cuz I turned off the old ones. I was getting way too much spam in the old emails. Then people can tell me if they think the lettering is too small for the pages I'll try to make them bigger asap.

4 nu pages finished and uploaded. Didn't get the 5th done, but if I can manage to get 4 again and add Saturday's time which was all spent in NYC at the Convention last week, then hopefully I can get 5 done for the next update. YEA!!! getting closer to the end!

MOHO Comic Updated:
Another 3 nu pages finished and uploaded. I almost had the 4th page finished too, so by next week I'll try to have 5 pages to post.

NEW YORK COMIC-CON will be coming up this weekend. I'm only going on Saturday, so that I get more of the comic done. Hopefully that won't make it impossible to finish 5 pages for next week's update. I'll probably bring my camera and if I get the time I'll post the pics in the EVENTS section. There looks like there will be a lot of cool things going on. A couple of my friends should be meeting me there. I can't wait. I hope this convention will grow like the San Diego Comic-Con did. Then there will be 2 SUPER HUGE Cons to do each year!!

MOHO Comic Updated:
3 nu pages finished and uploaded. YESS I got more than 2 lousy pages done. Granted it is only 3 but it does mean I'm getting faster.

NEW YORK COMIC-CON will be coming up Feb. 24 - 26 and I will be attending, but I won't have a table this year. I plan to have a table next year. I wanted to have more things ready before I hit that show and since it is the 1st year, I figure I'll just go check it out and enjoy it.

I-CON 25 will be the 1st convention I'll be hitting this year. I didn't go to I-Con last year cuz I usually share the table, but didn't have someone to share it with and figured I'd come this year with more stuff.

Comic and Concept design Gallery Updated:
I hope everyone had a good year in 2005 and that things get better in 2006! Page 10 is going to be the last page online in color and the rest will be gray-scaled. A total of 3 new pages are up. I'm starting to like the way I get certain things painted, but still have to work out the main style. I can't wait to begin the 3rd issue GRRR taking to long to paint this thing. The Basic Concept design for Dania's hunting gear and a 360 degree view of her have been added to the Concept Gallery. Generally, In this part of the MOHO world women are not allowed to participate in the Hunt and therefore don't have hunting clothes. This will be another issue down the road that Dania's family has to face.

Comic and Concept design Gallery Updated:
In the Comic section I added 3 more pages. All 3 new ones have been greyscaled. In the Concept Gallery I added 2 Head gear designs for Xenling characters and a 360 degree view of Niko at the age of 9. One of the Xenling designs is the 2nd form of 3 forms that the avatar for the God "Ki" has. Ki is the God of Animals. The 1st form I posted last time was the Tiger or [Land] form. This time it is the Bird or [Air] form. The 2nd design is the "Qi" - pronounced Chi - avatar. This Xenling does the bidding of the God of all Gods. Qi is the creator and destroyer of all things. They are almost never seen, work with a status above the other Xenling and usually have there own agenda.

Comic, Illustration and Concept design Gallery Updated:
I had a problem with my monitor, so it went in for repairs. One of the reasons for the delayed updates. Should be getting back to a regularrrrleeey scheduled program now. I finally finished painting the Cover for the 2nd issue. I also uploaded 2 more pages. Everything after page 10 will be greyscaled. When I print the comic it will be printed in full color.

The cover for issue 2 can be seen without the MOHO logo and number 2 in the Illustration Gallery
I flushed out the exact Head gear designs for 3 of the Xenling characters. Working on 360 degree designs for the main characters, Xenling and the Rah-gra. The Rah-gra show up in the 3rd issue. The Rah-gra are nasty and unnatural beings used by the Dark and Evil Gods. The Noctress are natural animals that have been preverted by the Dark Gods. The Noctress are nocturnal animals that can be found just about everywhere after night. The Heavenly Gods use Xenling to do their bidding on the earth or worldly plane. The Dark Gods send the Rah-gra to their bidding.

MOHO Comic Updated:
I've uploaded 2 more painted color pages from issue 2 of MOHO. I have to increase my speed. I think I'm painting slightly different than the 1st issue, but there is an improvement. I think I'm getting a little more painterly which is what I want. I want things to look clear or understandable but not necessarily so clean.

8/18/2005

MOHO Comic Updated:
I've begun painting issue 2 of the MOHO comic and just have to get the flow going steady. I finished pages 1 and 3 and I'm still working on the Cover. Originally I was going to leave the Cover in Black and White but I had a lot of people, who seem to like the way I paint, tell me to try painting it and compare the results. Well I think it will turn out pretty nice in color as well, but I also still really like the B & W. Hopefully I'll have a ton done by next weekend since I should have some time off from 1 of my jobs because the boss is going on vacation. I'll probably only post up to page 5 or 8 in color and then grayscale the rest and when it is finally completed add the dialogue. If I have time I'll try to add the dialogue sooner.

San Diego Comic Con-International:
I uploaded the photos I took at San Diego to the EVENTS section. They can also be seen on the DMON site and I now have details of the Comic Con. there.

7/27/2005

MOHO Comic Updated:
MOHO issue 2 - All the pages are finished being drawn. I posted the remaining pages that had not been done up to the website. I am beginning now to paint them. As soon as I have pages fully painted, I'll probably post 5 to 8 in color and the rest will be gray-scaled. I will also be updating the MOHO online glossary soon because I didn't get to update the glossary in the 2nd issue and there are things that might confuse people. By the way if any body does have any questions please feel free to email me.

San Diego Comic Con-International: I finished the rest of the MOHO pages just before the San Diego Convention. I printed an ashcan or Black and White version of the 2nd issue for the convention. I now know there are a couple errors in the lettering and the bubbles, which I'll point out in the next update when I have found them all. I'll have all the kinks fixed by the time I print the full color version. I know a couple panels have bubbles where someone is supposed to be thinking and is actually saying it. That definitely has to be fixed. Also, I know there are a couple problems with some of the dialogue, which will be improved in the color version. I'll have photos I took at the Con. posted to the events section as soon as possible. The convention was Great!!! I hope to get a lot of feedback from people I met. Thanks for all the support and help in buying my comics, art prints or just coming to my site. I'll give more details of the San Diego Con on the DMON site soon.

MOHO Comic Updated:
4 nu pages drawn up for MOHO issue 2. I've heard from San Diego Comic-Con International. I should have a table I just have to get a Temporary Sales Tax # to send them that form. I hopefully will get the Sales Tax number in 2 - 3 weeks, then I can send the form in to the San Diego. I won't be able to bring the 2nd issue in color, so I'll probably just make a small black and white run of the 2nd issue and bring the remaining B & W copies I have of the 1st issue to San Diego. Hopefully I'll sell most of them and help generate some more money to print them in color and hype to sell them when I do print in color. I'll be printing in conjunction with a friend so that we could get a cheaper price for the color printing. It is just so expensive. I need to look for as many opportunities to save money as possible. Hope u like the new pages.

MOHO Comic Updated:
11 nu pages polished up from thumbnails and posted. I'm behind in the schedule that I wanted to keep, but started to realize that an impossible schedule is impossible to keep. Anyway 11 pages in about a week is a big improvement! I have a new schedule to keep, so lets see how that goes. Trying to get this all done, while working other more conventional jobs is not easy.

MOHO Comic Updated:
Finished 3 pages and then redid a lot of drawing on those pages. I like the latter versions better, but I need to also processed on finishing more pages because I can also redraw when I paint the pages. Goal is to have the whole thing done by the end of May or bust. The nu pages are 4, 32,33 and 34. Going to stay up most of the night to try to get as much done and see if I can post some more pages by Monday.

4/20/2005

MOHO Comic Updated:
I redrew part of the bottom panel on page 3. I'm probably going to adjust a couple things on pg 1 and 2. That is why these 3 pgs are posted more in their drawn state rather than the fully finished Black and White version I had them in. I won't be posting the finish Grayscale versions with dialog till the whole issue is done and off to the printer. I'll probably show the 1st five pages in color. I took a lot of time to reconfigure the html code and load all the thumbs into the Sketch section of the Galleries. As I polish pages from their sketchy thumbnail stage to completed drawn stage I'm going to eliminated the thumnail from the comic section. But you can always refer back to the thumbs now in the sketch section. Page 29 is also complete. I'm not doing the pages in order since the issue is already figured out and I want to get some of the quicker pages out of the way. More pages soon.

Right now I'm also debating on whether to go right into some of the painting aspects as I polish up the sketches or draw the pages at a super high resolution than paint them at a normal resolution. I'm going to see if there is any real difference in line quality between the 2 different methods. Remember all this is digital at this point so I want to make sure I'm getting the best line quality I can. Normally, I know they only ask to print things around 300 to 400 dpi, but when I worked at Broadway comics they use to scan the line drawings at 1200 dpi and another company which I did some coloring used to merge the line drawing at 600 dpi with a rezed up color layer. Of course that was with the drawing and inking being done on paper and the color on the computer. Everything from page 4 on will be done completely on the computer.

4/11/2005

MOHO Comic Updated:
Almost all the thumbs are up. Hopefully, I'll get the rest of 45, 46, and 47 up tonight. Then I can finally start drawing the actual pages. I redid pg 30. There may be revisions along the way, but I think these thumbs will be a strong guide if not mostly the end result. More later.

OK later is here and all the thumbs are uploaded. Now, Dah DAH DAAHHH!!!! Da DUMM the real drawing begins. I kinda like the sketchiness sometimes. Maybe in the painting part I can get a little more painterly than I did in issue 1, which I had originally wanted. We'll see how it goes.

4/4/2005

MOHO Comic Updated:
7 More thumbnails are up. Now there are thumbs up to and including pg 30. Didn't finish with sketching out the whole book yet. Should have them soon. I had to redesign a couple things because I reworked some of how the Xenling work. If you liked or were interested about the Xenling from issue 1, you'll get to see more now. 4 different types show up in the thumbs I posted. One changes his appearance depending upon the animal group he is communicating with. Another Xenling's head gear actually sprouts decorative side wings, horns, thingys Ahh whatever... just look and see what it sprouts. Of course this is all do to borganics [nano crap that has a bio component]. The same material is what is used to create Dania's sword in the earlier pages. More about Borganics later. The OmiYang Xenling's clothes also emit light. Ooooo Special effects to astound the villagers.

3/28/2005

MOHO Comic Updated:
More thumbnails are up. I revised thumbs for pages 9 - 15. Now there are thumbs up to and including pg 23. Well half of the book is thumbed. Hopefully I'll have the other half posted before the weekend starts this way I can start working on the actual pages. I've also decided to digi paint the cover for issue 2.

3/20/2005

MOHO Comic Updated:
More thumbnails are finally up. Thumbs for pages 9 - 15 are in the comic section. I should have the rest soon. One of the reasons for the long wait on the update was I had to revamp the entire HTML for the comic section. When I redid my website in HTML w/ CSS, I neglected to do the comic section because at the time it had the most pages and I was lazy. I figured I would end up doing it when I started the 2nd issue. The HTML code is now more current. I changed the navigation slightly. A new window doesn't pop-up when you click a page of the comic. You get to stay in the same window now and I have a gallery ICON on each page, which brings you back to the comic section. I think this makes the navigation easier. Sometimes, doing code just takes to damn long. It is 5:20 in the morning now, so ZZZZXZzzzzzzzzz zzz snore....

Sketch Gallery Updated:
I posted: the Design sketch for the OMI YANG Xenling's [aka The Avatar for the God of Light and the Skies] Head Gear, the original MINI LAB sketch that I based the 3D models I made on, and 2 thumbnail pages that were originally going to extend the fight scene between the Hurronk and Dania. Even though I was actually looking at all the previous thumbs, it still slipped my mind that I had already cut off the Hurronk's right hand. It seems I gave him his hand back just so I could chop it off again LOL. I SUCK! I liked the movement in those thumbs and had liked the idea that the Hurronk wasn't going to go down so easy, Ha HA!!! I'm such the fool. When I realized what I had done I felt so stooopid because I wasted a nice chuck of time only to revert back to the original layout.

3D DESIGN Gallery Updated: Interior of a Cuna household 2D
Added six images of a Cuna Household in 2D created from the 3D models. In the original 3D images of a Cuna household, I had forgot to place the water hole next to the cooking/eating table, which is most of the time used more for keeping freshly caught fish. The water holes connect with the Berriana Sea under the Cuna village beach. There is a net in the hole to keep the fish from returning to the sea. The villagers use it for water when they are lazy and don't want to obtain water from the main well in front of the Chief's house. The villagers of course heat the water and let it condense in pottery designed to collect the water and leaves the salt behind in the original pot.

MOHO Comic Updated:
The 1st issue is finally fully painted. I decided to put up the painted versions of pg 10 and 17, so everyone can see how they turned out in color. You can now Click to see the original, then proceed to the Altered pages with the new 3D backgrounds in Black and White, and lastly see what the finished painted page will look like in the comic.

Now I just have to find out from the printer how they accept the files to print the comic. Then I can set up the lettering according to there format. I printed the Black and White version with Dream Weaver Press. They do a great job, but only print in Black and White. Actually, I'll be going with them again to San Diego Comic Con. . I can't wait to go. Anyway, Back to the grind, I'll be posting more thumbnails to the 2nd issue ASAP. The whole 2nd issue, except for pages 1 - 3, will be created all digitally from start to finish. I'm hoping this will speed up certain parts of the whole process. Example no more scanning and cleaning up the smudges. :)) ^_^

1/29/2005

MOHO Comic Updated:
I posted the pages with the nu backgrounds added to them. I replaced backgrounds on 5 panels within 3 pages. The originals are also linked to the revised pages so that you can see the difference. Page 2 is done in color and page 10 and 17 were left in black and white. I'm painting page 10 right now, but I'm not sure I'll post it as a comparison since page 10 and 17 were not originally painted before the revision. Now, I must return to finishing the painting of the 1st issue.

Concept Gallery Updated:
Facade Designs for the Chief's House in the Cuna Village. I posted Close-ups of the designs as well, so you can get a better idea of the design work and to see how they correlate to other things within the story, for example: villagers clothing, creatures and Xenling. Head Gear designs for the Death Xenling or as they are known The Xenling Muerte are also uploaded to the Concept Gallery. The Xenling Muerte have different head dresses for Leaders and regular forces but most of the other Xenling do not. They may be identified by changes in color on head gear or on their clothing.

3D DESIGN Gallery Updated: Interior of a Cuna household 3D
6:30 in the morning but the last update for the year is posted. Well this is the last of the 3D models for the time being as well. I wish I had done the design for it when I first started building the Exterior of the Cuna Household. There are a couple of Exterior shots and then all interior shots from varying sides and angels. You'll notice shelves in a hall way and a small room in the Front left side generally where children sleep. Grand parents generally sleep in the back left side of the house where the ladder leads to an opening in the roof. And all the other adults and babies sleep in the Big room on the right. I think I worked it out to fit about 15 people altogether.

The Dome is constructed of a material that lets the day light shine through but remains looking Opaque on the outside, so the evil spirits can't see in and they slide off the dome because it is slippery and curled. I think I may also put designs on top of it which will also be wards that protect against evil spirits. I know I am going to have deigns on the Drapes that hang in front of the door, windows and the hatch or cover of the roof exit to ward off evil spirits.

There might be more or less furniture per household but this is the typical design. Generally everyone sleeps on the floor or a rug with pillows depending on if your family has made rugs or pillows or was allowed the materials to make them. Jenob and Dania's Family are allowed only the bare amounts because for the most part the family is shunned by the village. Only Dania's Father is looked upon with great import and with out him the Families troubles would increase, but in a way they are also left alone because no one wants to deal or associate with them. There is the small table in the front, a storage container in the back left room for important things and many everyday things are stored under or on the shelves in the hall. Then there is the cooking and eating table given by the gods in the main room, it has a place where the villages can put wood to burn and heat up the table above to cook things on. The Table can get extremely hot but it will not hurt human flesh - of course this is do to the GODS. They also put pots of earthenware in the openings near the burning wood to cook other things, but these are there own hand made containers and do not share the cooking tables qualities. Near the table in the back right corner on the floor is also a cover for a hole that is filled with sea water and is actually connected to the outside ocean. The villagers use it to keep fish in case a day goes by where not much fish was caught or meat was hunted. There is a netting preventing the fish from swimming back to sea. If I think of more details to write I'll jot it down in a later update. Now it is 7:30 in the morning. EWWWWWW.

3D DESIGN Gallery Updated: Revised Background elements
Rendered the Nu Background elements necessary to keep the First Issue in sync with later issues. Each Nu rendered background indicates what page and panel it will be placed on. You can see how it will correlate to the original pages and panels posted in the first issue online or in the ashcan. I also show the scene with and without a representation of people. I hope that this will give people a good idea of how I'm going to go about creating panels and scenes using the nu 3D designs. Initial renderings and later versions on 1 or 2 scenes are posted to show my effort in trying to retain the original set-up on that page and panel.

3D DESIGN Gallery Updated
Now I posted a ton of 2D renderings of the 3D models I made that represent the village of Cuna. I think this will give everyone a good idea of how I will use the 3D models to create the background settings for certain situations. A lot of the 2D renderings are of similar objects and similar positions that the original 3D rendered images were in to show the comparision between Rendering environments. I want to render them 2D so that I think they will blend in better with the 2D characters.

I am starting to create the lab which Jenob uses to create the MOHO. We get introduced to Jenob (Niko's father) and his lab in the 2nd issue. After that I will be creating the general appearance of the Interior of a Cuna household. This desgin will also be used a lot more in the 2nd issue. Once I have these 3D environments done then I will be getting back to working on the actual pages of the comic.

Plan of attack once I start to work on MOHO pages again.
[1] Input new versions of background elements on certain pages in issue 1 (because some of the designs look different and I
want things to look as consistent as possible with later issues.)
[2] Finish coloring 1st issue (I have about half the book to color)
[3] Finish all the thumbnails for Issue 2 and then begin drawing the pages
[4] Color Issue 2 and at the same time write Issue 3 in more detail
[OBJECTIVE] Finish Issues 1 - 3 in color by end of April so that I can bring them to the San Diego Comic Con and other
conventions. Of course I also have to hope I saved the money or figure a way to borrow money to print them by then.

Nu Navigation for Galleries and 3D DESIGN
Well, I'm back with Nu stuff. I decided to create CUNA the main village in the MOHO comic in a 3D program so that my progress in working on the comic will go faster. I also changed the navigation for the galleries to make things easier. Now when you click Galleries you will get 4 sections to choose from ILLUSTRATIONS, 3D DESIGN, CONCEPT ART and SKETCH WORK. I unloaded some of the 3D renderings of the CUNA village in the nu 3D Design Gallery. By next week I should have more posted images that will show how I'm going to use the 3D constructions in a comic page. I'm not going to have fully rendered 3D backgrounds with 2D characters. The 3D designs will be rendered in away that I can paint them to sync up with the 2D characters. I want to keep the art within the same feeling and really hate when you can tell the difference between the 2 methods. I hope I can achieve this effect. A lot of animation uses both 2D and 3D now and some people combine them and keep them within the same world and that is what I hope to achieve as well.

MOHO ISSUE 2
Cover for Issue 2. I know I should be doing the pages, but I started on a new cover idea and just couldn't stop until it was finished. What you don't think it's finihed. Of course it is, I actually like it in Black and White. Maybe someday I'll color it, but for now it stays that way and will be printed that way if I ever get the chance to publish the bloody thing. In the comic section is the cover with the MOHO Logo and all; in the Illustration Gallery you can find it w/o the Logo and all. More to come hopefully very soon.

MOHO ISSUE 2
Finally, I started getting the thumbnails going for issue 2. I hope to get faster and post a bunch of thumbs at a time. As soon as the thumbs are done it is on to doing the detail work and creating the pages actual size. I invested all my money into going to San Diego and getting some new Hardware for my computer. From now on the entire comic will be digitally created. WHY? I am hoping to cut a lot of time out from scanning, cleaning up scans and inking and all that kind of prep work that led up to me establishing the pages on the computer so I could letter and color it. Why am I posting the thumbs? Thought people might be interested in the beginning concepts and how they evolve to completion. Also figured it was a good way to let people know the process had begun again.

San Diego Comic Con International - July 22 - 25
Got back from San Diego on Tuesday and I have photos from the Con. up on the EVENTS page. I've been trying to unpack and organize things since I returned and headed back to regular work.

The Convention was more than GIGANTIC, it was its own world. They said that attendance was projected to be 75,000 peeps and we heard that 95,000 peeps may have actually attended. It will be interesting to note what the real numbers are. They seem to post the # of attendees on the San Diego Comic Con. website. However, I think it will be a while before the stats are listed. It was crowded on a Thursday and Friday was filled with more peeps and Saturday was a complete MAD HOUSE. There were areas that could not be traversed without waiting hours or killing and mayhem - OK maybe I'm exaggerating a little but only a small tiny bit. It was a great show even though I didn't break even on the expenses related to the show. I was there as Yume Comics and Jose and Daphne were there as Dream Weaver Press. We shared a hotel room with a friend of mine from Long Beach California.

My stuff sold pretty good I think for the first time being there and I look forward to any feedback on the ashcan. I also sold out of the 1st printing of the ashcan. The 2nd printing of the ashcan is also now available in the Yume store. I still have to finish a Business card project and probably another cover art project for a Yang Da Dark CD. Then issue 2 of MOHO. Also should be putting my ART PRINTS for sale in the Yume Store during August. More details about the San Diego show on the DMON site.

Wizard World Convention - Philadelphia - May 21 - 23
The Philly Convention went OK. I sold the same number of ashcans as I did at I-CON, which I am glad I sold them, but I was hoping to sell more because there was probably 2 or 3 times the people at Philly. Of course there was also tons more vendors i had to compete with. My art prints didn't sell to much either, which is what i always sold a lot of. The friends I went with thought that last years Philly convention was better and the people were more enthusiastic. I did get a lot of interest from people and must have given out 200 or 300 business cards.

I posted a drawing I did at the convention in the Sketch Gallery. Also updated the most recent version of the Family painting in the Illustration Gallery. Instead of just finishing the 1st issue in color, I decided to start working on the 2nd issue again. I'll keep everyone posted as soon as i think I'll have new pages up.
